Julia Nunes came to San Francisco a few months ago – to the Swedish–American Music Hall to be exact – and we were lucky enough to see her. M’lady is a big fan.
It was amazing to bear witness to part of an intriguing development in the music business: Julia Nunes’s fame – and all you had to do was see the length of the line to meet the lady herself, snaking around the auditorium after the show and witness the intense ardor of her fans that night to realize that, yes, this girl is indeed famous – was made by way of YouTube. One day Julia Nunes decided to pick up her ukelele and record a video of her performance – which by the way was simply her sitting in her desk chair in front of her computer – and then upload it onto YouTube. The rest, as they say, is history.
